When the Dog Entered the Tram in the Middle of the Night is a choreographic work developed as part of an artistic research project during a one-year postgraduate residency and performance research program (PReS), within the framework of SOZO vim in Kassel.

The piece was born through an artistic and choreographic research process. At the heart of it lies a question: how can we find a way of moving within a constantly changing environment? The research question engages with the relationship between the body and its surroundings in an era of ecological crisis and planetary transformation. The research proposes perspectives for a time marked by uncertainty, not-knowing and ongoing change. It explores ways of engaging with a non-verbal and sensorial dimensions of human knowledge.

The choreography of the piece is grounded in a performance practise developed during the research project. The practice unfolds within a vast landscape where a sense of connection and belonging with the surroundings emerges. It is a practice of being together with uncertainty.

When the Dog Entered the Tram in the Middle of the Night plays with the boundaries between sense and non-sense and touches on themes of fluid identities, otherness and adolescence.

"Smells like teen spirit", one says and laughs, " – we are the youngest".

Did you ever feel like that the things made sense? I didn't, or maybe it is the apathy of being young – and still in the end we needed to stop hanging around.

Now we are learning again; embracing the nonsense – because we desperately need it.

Do we have so much to say? And in the end don't have a clue what to say. Things that wouldn't make sense started to make more sense. Sometimes small flashes. In a not-knowing, tracks occur.

I was dwelling. I was surprised. I was turning towards I don't know. That I can not explain to you. I don't have glue.

This is what we do.

There is all kind of things. There is all kind of meanings. If I don't show you now. We already run far.

Let's expose all kind of thing; All the moments when we know and we don't (but we do); All we were, all we are. All the nonsense and sense – Sense – sights – we see inside.
